Frequently Asked Questions

Answers on cutting, profiles, ordering, shipping and payment – so you can quickly find what you need yourself. If something is missing, reach us directly by e-mail.

Ordering & Process

How do I order from Innovalu?

We accept standard orders exclusively through our online shop. There you can see prices, available variants, machining options, accessories and the standard shipping costs at any time.

This way profile type, length, quantity, machining and your billing and payment details reach our order processing unambiguously – with no back-and-forth and no waiting for a quote.

Can I order by e-mail or by phone?

We accept standard orders exclusively through the online shop. This ensures profile type, length, machining as well as billing and payment details are taken over unambiguously, and prices stay calculated the same for everyone.

For larger or non-standard projects an individual quote makes sense – simply write to us at info@innovalu.at.

Something in the ordering process is unclear – who do I ask?

Configuration takes place directly on the respective product. If anything is unclear, it is best to write to us directly by e-mail at info@innovalu.at.

This direct address gets your order question to the right place fastest. General contact forms bundle very different enquiries and are therefore sorted more broadly.

Can several orders be combined?

Yes. As long as an order has not yet been dispatched, we can combine it. The easiest way: place the additional items as a new order and note in the comment field that they belong to order XY.

Shipping costs and any small-quantity surcharge are then corrected internally – the base costs usually become significantly cheaper as a result.

For combined orders, please choose PayPal, prepayment or – for collection – cash/debit card on site. Overpaid amounts are refunded via PayPal. Klarna is not suitable here, as subsequent changes are not possible with it.

Where can I see the status of my order?

You can find the current status at any time in your customer account. After confirmed receipt of payment the order shows as “In processing”.

As soon as it is ready for collection or has been handed over to the carrier, you automatically receive a message – including a tracking number in case of shipping.

Cutting & Machining

Can I order profiles in my desired length, cut to the millimetre?

Yes. Our profiles are cut to the desired dimension. Standard lengths are shown directly on the respective profile; individual lengths are entered in the associated cut-to-size area.

Please allow for a customary cutting tolerance of ±1 mm. As a rule we are well within that – but with this guide value you are on the safe side.

What is the maximum length I can order?

Our profiles are processed from bars up to 6,000 mm. Lengths over 3 metres are therefore possible.

How the desired length can be delivered then depends on the shipping method (parcel shipping up to 1,980 mm, above that forwarding or splitting).

Can I order threaded holes directly?

Yes. On profiles designed for this, threaded holes can be ordered directly as machining – the profiles then arrive already prepared.

Which machining options are available is shown on the respective profile or in the cut-to-size area.

Do you offer mitre cuts (45°)?

At the moment we do not offer mitre cuts. We had them in our range before and plan to bring them back in the foreseeable future.

As soon as the service is available again, we will update this page accordingly.

How long does it take to process my order?

Standard orders are typically prepared within about 1–3 working days. The actual time depends on quantity, machining scope, stock and current order volume; during peak periods it may take longer.

After handover to the carrier, the transport time is added (usually 1–2 working days). Working days from confirmed receipt of payment are decisive.

Profiles & Compatibility

Which slot do the 20, 30 and 40 series profiles have?

Our system is basically structured as follows: 20 series: slot 5, 30 series: slot 8, 40 series: slot 8.

The slot size is decisive for selecting T-slot nuts, bolts and many connecting elements.

What does “slot 5” or “slot 8” mean?

The designation describes the profile’s slot series and is the basis for matching accessories.

A component for slot 5 therefore does not automatically fit a slot 8 profile. With T-slot nuts, connectors and accessories, always check the stated slot size.

Do slot 8 T-slot nuts fit both 30 and 40 series profiles?

Yes. Our 30 and 40 series both use slot 8, so the intended slot 8 T-slot nuts can be used in both series.

The required thread size – for example M5, M6 or M8 – is also decisive.

What is the difference between an M6 and an M8 slot nut (slot 8)?

For comparable slot 8 T-slot nuts, the key difference is the threaded hole. The choice depends on which bolt or component is to be attached.

In short: slot 8 describes the matching profile slot, M6 or M8 denotes the thread.

Are accessories from different profile series compatible with each other?

Not automatically. Besides the slot size, profile width, geometry, hole pattern and type of fastening also play a role.

An accessory for the 30 or 40 series can therefore be geometrically different despite the same slot size. If unsure, a quick check against the product description or a specific query helps.

Are Innovalu profiles compatible with item, Bosch or other systems?

Our profiles belong to the Type I system – the standard known on the market as item. They are therefore most compatible with item- or Type-I-oriented accessories.

Two system worlds have become established on the market: Type I (item) and Type B (Bosch). With Type B / Bosch profiles our profiles are only compatible to a limited extent.

There are also generic slot profiles (e.g. 30x30) that cannot be assigned to a specific manufacturer but have become established on the market and are usually also combinable with Type I accessories.

With third-party accessories, do not decide by “30x30” or “slot 8” alone: profile shape, slot geometry and the specific component are decisive for a reliable combination. When in doubt, we are happy to check this with you.

What is the difference between the Light and Standard profiles?

Our range comprises two versions: Light and Standard. They differ mainly in profile cross-section, material use, weight and thus in stiffness and load capacity.

For light frames or cladding the Light version is often sufficient; for more heavily loaded structures the stronger Standard version is a good choice. The selection depends on span, load and design.

Are the profiles available in black and silver?

Many series are available both silver anodised and black anodised. Which finish is currently offered is shown directly on the respective profile in the shop.

Both surfaces are anodised; the black one is a matte anodised finish, not painted. We do not carry bare, non-anodised profiles.

Does Innovalu also supply plates, sheets or wood?

No. Our range comprises aluminium construction profiles (Type I) and the matching connecting and fastening accessories.

Plates, panel materials, sheets or wood are not part of our programme – nor are bare, non-anodised profiles.

Where can I find technical data such as material or tightening torques?

The technical details on the profiles can be found on the respective product page; the material we use is generally the grade EN AW-6063 T66.

For tightening torques, the values customary for the respective bolt thread apply (e.g. M5, M6, M8). For a specific application, feel free to ask us – we will assess it individually.

Note: technical data and load values serve as guide values and for pre-selection. They do not replace a project-specific structural or safety assessment.

Connectors & Accessories

Which connectors do I need for my structure?

That depends on how the profiles are positioned relative to each other and what load the connection must take. For classic 90° connections, brackets and internal connectors, among others, are available.

The easiest approach is to first choose your profile series and then the matching accessories of the same system size.

Can I bolt profiles directly together?

Yes, depending on the design a direct bolted connection through the profile core is also possible. This usually requires a suitable threaded hole in the profile.

This machining can be ordered directly on suitable profiles.

Can I extend profiles afterwards?

Yes. There are matching profile or in-line connectors for this. It is especially useful when a total length is needed that cannot be shipped economically as a single profile by parcel service.

This allows longer structures to be built from several transport-friendly profile pieces.

Can I attach standard hardware-store accessories to the profiles?

In many cases yes – this is an advantage of the T-slot system. Using suitable T-slot nuts and bolts, universal holders, hinges or plates can also be attached.

Important here are the right bolt size, hole pattern and sufficient bearing surface.

Shipping & Pickup

How are profiles longer than 1,980 mm shipped?

For regular parcel shipping, profiles including packaging may be a maximum of 1,980 mm long. For longer profiles there are three options: self-pickup, shipping by forwarding, or splitting the profile and joining it again with a suitable profile connector.

Especially for individual long profiles, the split version is often the more economical solution.

What does forwarding shipping cost?

Forwarding costs are calculated individually based on length, volume and destination and depend on the current daily rate – so fixed reference values cannot be given reliably. As a guide, they start from around €70.

For larger orders or oversizes, the surcharge over parcel shipping is often moderate; for just a few bars the difference is more pronounced. It is best to ask briefly – we will calculate it specifically for your shipment.

How high are the shipping costs?

For regularly shippable orders, the shipping costs are calculated automatically in the basket or checkout.

For oversizes or forwarding shipments, the costs are requested separately based on length, weight and destination.

Can I collect my order myself?

Yes. Simply choose self-pickup as the shipping method when ordering. The order is processed in the order of receipt; as soon as everything is ready, we will inform you.

Ordering in advance via the shop avoids waiting times and misunderstandings regarding profile type, length and machining. No shipping costs apply for collection.

How can I pay on collection?

On site you can pay by cash or debit card; prepayment is also possible.

Please note: Klarna and PayPal are currently not available for self-pickup. Cash/debit card on site or prepayment is the regular route here.

Do I get shipment tracking?

For shipments with tracking you receive the shipping information after handover to the carrier. Depending on the shipping method, the type of tracking may differ.

If a tracking status remains unchanged for an unusually long time, get in touch with us with your order and tracking number.

Does Innovalu also deliver to Germany and other EU countries?

Within Austria you order and ship directly via the online shop. Beyond that we deliver to numerous EU countries – the currently available destinations are shown when entering the address at checkout.

For larger shipments or oversizes, an individual forwarding request may be required.

Payment & B2B

Which payment methods are available?

Directly with Innovalu you pay by prepayment (bank transfer) – you receive the bank details and transfer directly – and, for self-pickup, by direct payment on site (cash or debit card) on handover.

In addition, the payment services PayPal (including credit card) and Klarna (e.g. EPS) are available at checkout. Which options are currently offered is shown directly in the checkout.

Note: Klarna and PayPal are currently not available for self-pickup – here cash/debit card on site or prepayment applies.

When is an order processed in the case of prepayment?

With prepayment, order processing begins after confirmed receipt of payment. This ensures order and payment are clearly matched.

If it needs to be particularly fast, a payment method with immediate payment confirmation is recommended.

Can I order on account/invoice (also as a company)?

A direct purchase on account through Innovalu is currently not possible – not even for business customers (B2B). We deliberately keep our structure lean in order to keep prices permanently low.

For private customers, Klarna offers a purchase on account at checkout; handling and payment term are then with Klarna as the payment service.

Directly from us, prepayment by bank transfer is available (processing after receipt of payment), and for self-pickup additionally payment on site.

How does a B2B order within the EU work?

If you order as a company from another EU member state, enter your company details and a valid VAT/UID number correctly in your customer account or the ordering process.

If the conditions for an intra-Community supply are met, the order is treated accordingly for tax purposes. A private order, by contrast, is invoiced as a B2C order.

Are there discounts on larger orders?

Our prices are deliberately transparent and permanently calculated tightly. This means the same transparent conditions also apply to smaller follow-up orders later – without constant renegotiation.

We therefore do without a pronounced discount policy. For significantly larger, mostly commercial project quantities an individual calculation is possible – in that case feel free to get in touch at info@innovalu.at.

Complaints, Returns & Missing Parts

What do I do if a profile arrives damaged?

Please first document the condition of the profile and packaging with photos and send us the order number along with: which profile and length are affected, how many pieces are affected, whether the shipment was accepted in person or left, and whether external damage was visible or noted on handover.

This allows us to assess the case cleanly and determine the appropriate next step.

The packaging was visibly damaged on delivery – what should I do?

Have any externally visible damage noted directly on handover by the carrier if possible, and document the packaging with photos before opening it.

This considerably simplifies the later assessment of possible transport damage.

What do I do if a part is missing?

Send us the order number and the missing item, or a photo of the parts received. We will reconcile the order and then clarify how to proceed.

For clearly missing items, a re-delivery is arranged accordingly.

I received a wrong item – what happens next?

Please send us the order number and a photo of the delivered item. This allows the discrepancy to be checked clearly.

If an exchange is required, you will receive the information for return and replacement delivery.

Can I return profiles cut to the millimetre?

Goods cut individually to customer specification are a custom production. Such made-to-measure cuts are generally excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal in distance selling.

Warranty claims in the case of actual defects remain unaffected, of course, and are assessed separately. You can find the details in our Terms & Conditions and in the Right of Withdrawal.

How does a return work in the event of a complaint?

If a return is required after assessment, we will arrange the process with you. Depending on the case, a return label can be provided.

Please do not send goods back unannounced, as we cannot always assign the case clearly otherwise.
